Aloha!

What a lucky girl Little Miss T is, she gets to celebrate her seven month birthday in Hawaii!

We wrapped up things in Sydney with a fantastic weekend getaway in Sydney’s wine country and then with a visit from our friend, “Auntie Dana,” who lives in Brisbane. We had a great time in Sydney and our stay there was over too soon. But, at least we got to wind down our extended holiday with a week in Hawaii. Auntie H, Grammy & Grampy joined us for part of the week in Kauai so that was a lot of fun.

T was a big hit in Australia and Hawaii. The Aussies’ favorite catch phrase for T was, “She’s like a little doll.” I guess that’s a good thing? We were stopped often by passer-byes who wanted to admire T. While I think she’s adorable, she has really wide, bright eyes and I think that attracts a lot of people to her. She’s always so alert and taking it all in and she loves to smile at everyone. We had several people remark that they could tell she was going to be smart because she’s so wide-eyed and curious about her environment.

T also formed her own papparazzi. I can’t even begin to count the number of times someone asked to take her picture. In Sydney, I kindly said, ” no thank you” every time. While it is certainly flattering that they think my kid is that cute that they want a picture of her, it’s also a bit creepy and strange. I’m sure most of it was innocent but at the same time, you can never be too sure. Once we got to Hawaii, it got a bit more out of control and while I had several people ask for permission to take her photo, I could also see people off in the distance zooming in to take her photo. What’s a Mom to do in that situation? I kind of have no control, you know?

During our time away, it seemed like time sped by even faster, especially when it came to Little Miss T growing up. We’re having so much fun watching her grow, develop and discover her new talents and capabilities. I sometimes can’t believe we’re so lucky to have a little girl as special and wonderful as T. She is pure joy and we share so much love for our little one.

This month T has been keeping us busy with her sitting up. She’s getting better and better each day at sitting and playing on her own. Her personality is also developing and she’s becoming a bit of a social butterfly although she does loves her mama and wants to be close me. She enjoys going out and she gives us the sign each day that it’s time for an outdoor activity. We’re still doing our daily exercises and I can see that T is starting to gain some flexibility, finally (one of the side effects of her preemieness). She still isn’t able to grab her toes, but she’s getting there. The fact that she’s working on sitting up and holding herself upward is great progress for her adjusted age (5 months).

It seems our balcony attracts the wildlife. We’re still getting daily visits from the Rainbow Lorikeets as they eat their seeds on our patio table.

Now we also have a Laughing Kookaburra checking us out.

We started T on solids and so far, it’s been a great success. Since we’re away from home at the moment, we’re taking it slow in case there are any issues. We’ve only served up some organic rice cereal but I can tell T is going to enjoy trying new foods. She loves the cereal so much she’s decided to take things into her own hands and feed herself. I think she likes it!
